Day 4 Den Dungen to Nederveert

Fortunately we realised last night that we were unlikely to get many places open for breakfast on a Sunday morning so we had bought croissants and cheese for this morning.  It was just as well as it was several hours before we found anywhere open.

The landscape has changed quite a bit, we have left the wetlands behind and are now into agricultural fields and woodland which wasn't quite as interesting as the last few days.  All along our route so far we keep coming across houses with the Dutch national flag flying alongside some sort of bag.

We couldn't work out what they were about until I asked our campsite owner last night, apparently they are put up whenever kids are graduating from high school.

The first place we found open for coffee was at a zoo just north of Eindhoven where we met another couple of birds with big mouths.

Stopped off for lunch at Neunen then followed the way marked signs along a complex maze of streets through Geldrop before getting onto some dodgy surfaced paths over a heather moorland which looked quite like home.

By the time we got to Nederveert we were pretty tired after more than fifty miles mostly into the wind,   However we have found another fantastic mini campsite, Camping de Riet, again only about a dozen pitches and not only did they refuse to take any money off us for camping, it has a self service bar with an honesty box at a euro per drink!

We are pretty tired tonight so perhaps a shorter day tomorrow.

  2. Yet again Europe seems so far ahead of us with facilities for cyclists.
